Why a web app and not a native app
We deliberately decided against a native iOS/Android app. Three reasons: First, the web app works instantly: no installation step, no App Store review. Second, the AI processing runs in the cloud anyway, not on the smartphone. And third, there is only one codebase, not three: web, iOS, Android. Updates reach everyone at the same time, without anyone having to "update the app".
If you still want an app icon on your home screen: Safari and Chrome offer "Add to Home Screen". Autaxo Studio then runs like a native app, in full screen, with its own icon. This is called a progressive web app (PWA) and delivers the same experience as an app, but without its maintenance headaches.
If you have several staff members or several locations: you manage roles and permissions centrally in the web backend, and all staff only need the URL and their login.

Do I need a dedicated app to use Autaxo Studio?
No. Autaxo Studio works entirely in your smartphone browser: no app installation, no App Store updates, no onboarding friction. You open garage.autaxo.de on your iPhone or Android, take photos and upload them directly. If you want an app-like experience, you can install the web app as a PWA via 'Add to Home Screen'.
Why no native app?
Native apps have three drawbacks that are critical for dealerships: (1) App Store reviews delay bug fixes by days, (2) updates have to be installed actively, because old versions lead to inconsistent data, (3) training new staff becomes more complex. A progressive web app delivers the same photo capture experience without that friction.
Does the AI processing work without internet?
The AI runs on our servers in Germany, so you need an internet connection. However: you can take photos offline and the app uploads them automatically as soon as you have reception again. Handy for underground garages or halls with weak signal.
How many photos can I take per vehicle?
We recommend 5 exterior shots per vehicle. That is our standard set for credit calculation (2 Credits per image, so 10 Credits per vehicle). But you can upload up to 25 photos, for example if you need detail shots for premium listings. The app guides you through the optimal angles.
